Iris
Macfarlane has written three books relating to India, Assam and tea
estates.
The
Children of Bird God Hill (1967) tells the story of children growing
up on a tea estate in Assam. Tales and Legends from India (1965)
is a translation of a number of Assamese folk stories. The Black
Hole; or the Makings of a Legend (1975) investigates the construction
of the myths surrounding the Black Hole of Calcutta.
