Making Stained
Glass Windows in Pluscarden
Much of the technical development of glass in north western Europe
arose from the desire to glorify God (and protect the congregation
from cold) with stained glass windows. Here we see Brother Cyprian
cutting and fitting of glass into a window frame in the workshop of
the Benedictine Abbey of Pluscarden in northern Scotland. The effects
of stained glass on ideas of light and optics in the flourishing of
medieval western sciences are considerable.
